We Shall Not Be Moved: The History of the Tillery Resettlement Farm

Sunday, May 15; 2:30 p.m.

This presentation is part of the ongoing series Let's Talk About Food.

"We Shall Not Be Moved" is their song and it means they "ain't going nowhere!" That's the spirit of the Tillery Resettlement Farm in North Carolina. Originating with the New Deal, the program gave landless sharecroppers a chance to buy their own farms. Follow along with filmmakers as they chronicle how this movement grew into a powerful force against racial injustice, environmental racism, and economic marginalization today. A panel discussion follows the screening.

Advance registration for members begins April 24. Registration for the general public begins May 1.

More about this season of Adult Offerings at the Museum of Science:

This season, we rethink the world around us by examining our food system, the fundamentals of physics, and the nature of race in our society. In February we celebrate the opening of the renovated Charles Hayden Planetarium, now so technologically advanced that it transports visitors through the cosmos faster than the speed of light. venture with us into a new understanding of things great and small.

We are constantly adding to our seasonal lineup of special guest lectures, panel discussions, podcasts, social event, and more. To stay in touch with the latest Museum Happenings, visit mos.org/events.
